What is a certificate of analysis?

A certificate of analysis (COA) is a document issued by a testing laboratory that reports what a sample contains and how pure it is. For research materials, it is the difference between a claim and a verifiable fact.

A typical COA identifies the compound, states the measured purity (often by HPLC), and confirms the molecular mass (often by mass spectrometry). It is tied to a specific batch or lot, so the result applies to the exact material you received.

When you read a COA, look for the lot number, the test date, the testing method, and the name of the laboratory. A result you can trace back to an accredited third-party lab is far stronger than an in-house number.

At Elisvon, every batch has a published COA, and the lot number printed on each vial resolves to that exact batch’s results.
